Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council will be hosting a fundraising lecture and dinner with Professor Bill Bowring on Wednesday 20th November at 7.00pm at the University of Northampton's Sunley Management Centre, Boughton Green road, Northampton. This event is sponsored by the Law Division at the University of Northampton.
Professor Bowring will be discussing the theme "Will Britain really leave the European Convention on Human Rights?"

Prof. Bill Bowring BA, is Professor of Law at Birkbeck College, University of London, and joined the Law School there in 2006. He is a practising barrister at Field Court Chambers, Gray's Inn. He previously held posts at the University of East London, University of Essex, and London Metropolitan University, and was Director of the Pan-European Institute, University of Essex from 1997-2000, and Director of the Human Rights and Social Justice Research Institute, London Metropolitan University, from 2003-2006. He is currently a Fellow of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex, a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Northampton. Professor Bowring has many publications on topics of international law, human rights, and the law of Russia and other Former Soviet Union countries. He frequently acts as a court expert.

Writing thus in May 2024 I can report we are still a member (just) of tbe Council of Europe and are still signatories to the European Convention of Human Rights. Will we be still members in 10 years (2034)
